Short CV

Graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Received his MSc from the Institute of Social Sciences of the same university with a thesis on popular culture and the politic-economic transformation of capitalism at the end of the twentieth century. Finally earned his PhD from the Institute of Social Sciences, Ege University with a thesis on the phenomenon of “leisure” and the economic and political dimensions of television viewing which is frequently conceived as a leisure activity. He has been giving lectures in Yaşar University since 2005 on mass communication, politics and popular culture. His research interests cover Marxist theory, political economy of media, sociology of communication and cultural studies broadly.
