Ahenk Yılmaz graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Department of Architecture in 1998, then she received her Master’s (2001) and PhD (2008) degrees in architecture from Izmir Institute of Technology. Certain parts of her PhD dissertation have been published in books and journals. In the context of her Post-Doc studies, Yılmaz undertook a collaborative research project at Brighton University in 2011 in the United Kingdom funded by TUBITAK and the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Arts of Yale University. Her research interests lie in the interaction between architectural design, theory and criticism . With a special focus on spatial experience, Yılmaz especially explores the effects of this interaction’s pivotal and emerging concepts that range from colour, memory to digital design on the production of space. Her research has been published in edited volumes, refereed journals and presented at national and international conferences.
