Prof. Sevda Alankuş works as the dean of Faculty of Communication, Yaşar University. She has graduated from Faculty of Political Science, Ankara University and received her MA degree and Ph.D degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the same University. She did post-doctoral research as Peace Research Fellowship on "Cultural/Ethnic Identities" at the Department of Social Policy and Sociology, University of Leeds in United Kingdom in 1988-1989 and continued her studies on the same issue at the Advanced International Relations School of Bologna Campus of Johns Hopkins University, She promoted to associate professorship in 1996, to the full profesorship in 2008 in the field of Communication Studies. She taught at Faculty of Communications of Ege, Ankara, Eastern Mediterranean University, İzmir University of Economics, Kadir Has University and has been in deanship position at the last three. She is doing workshops for promoting human, women, children rights-focused journalism.and peace journalism with collaborating several national/international journalism institutes. She has been at the Nortwestern University Keyman Institute as visiting fellow between March-June in 2018. Her academic research areas are cultural studies, gender studies, journalism theories and ethics. She has publications on representations of women by the media; peace journalism and feminist ethics; alternative media and human rights-based journalism.- Email
