Ayşe Özden Birkan graduated from TED Ankara College and completed her bachelor’s degree in the Department of Economics at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. During her Master’s studies she worked at the Department of Economics at the Middle East Technical University as a research/teaching assistant. She received the 1998 Jean Monnet Award and spent a year at the Department of Economics at the European University Institute in Florence Italy, as a student researcher. During the 1999-2002 period she worked at İş Investment as an investment advisor. During the 2002-2008 period she was a PhD student at the Department of Economics at the University of Utah in U.S.A. where she thought several courses in the bachelor’s program. In 2008 she completed her thesis titled “Essays on Turkish Monetary Policy” and received her PhD in Economics. In the same year she joined the Department of Economics at Yaşar University in İzmir, Turkey. In 2018, she received the title of associate professor from the Interuniversity Board. Dr. Birkan’s fields of interest are heterodox economic theory, monetary policy and theory, macroeconomics, international economics, applied econometrics and history of economic thought.- Phone 0232-570 8941
