Assist.Prof. (PhD) Başar Çağlar
Faculty of Engineering / Department of Energy Systems Engineering
Short CVBaşar Çağlar is an experienced researcher and has worked in the field of reaction engineering, catalysis, surface science and spectroscopy. He has been involved in many national and international project such as the TOFAŞ-METU joint project on Euro 5 catalytic converter and particulate filter development for diesel cars, the techno-initiative capital support project on the design of portable oxygen concentrator used for oxygen therapy, the Marie-Curie project on developing a portable custom-designed fluorescence/SERS system for the detection of pathogenic bacteria, the TUBITAK Industrial R&D project on medical hyperspectral imaging used for diagnosing diabetic foot ulcers, peripheral vascular disease and the TUBİTAK 2232-Return to Country Research project on biomass gasification and post-cleaning. He also has several publications on the catalytic NOx abatement and soot oxidation, the decomposition of biomass derived molecules on metal surfaces and refinery processes (e.g. hydrodesulfurization). His current research interests include biomass valorization and biorefinery, gasification, chemical looping combustion, co-firing, photocatalysis, solar thermal engineering and hydrogen storage materials.
