Pelin Atakan holds a BA degree in Political Science and International Relations from Bahcehir University, İstanbul, Turkiye and a MSc degree in Business Economics and Management from CIHEAM Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, Crete, Greece. Her MSc thesis was focused on the community supported agriculture groups in Turkiye. She continues her PhD in Agricultural Economics - Agricultural Management at Ege University, İzmir with her thesis research focusing on examining farmers' irrigation practices with the behavioral insight approach. She spent over 5 years volunteering and working in the civil society sector in the fields of human rights, rural development and political ecology. Combining her multidisciplinary background, her research focuses on the integration of agricultural economics and behavioral economics, and on agricultural water management, value chains, entrepreneurship, alternative food networks. She took part in projects supported by EIT, Erasmus +, Horizon Europe and PRIMA programs at Yaşar University and Ege University. As of September 2023, she has been working as a research assistant at Yaşar University, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness.
