Nathaniel Alexander Davis is a former Delyte & Dorothy Morris Doctoral Fellow and PhD graduate in History from Southern Illinois University; he completed his PhD in 2017. He completed a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in 2006, Master of Arts in History in 2009. He was a 2012 Turkish FLAS Fellow, a 2012-2013 Boren Fellow, and exchange student at Boğaziçi University from 2012-2013, and conducted research in the Turkish national archives on the language training programs of the Ottoman Foreign Ministry. He completed his doctoral dissertation in May 2017 on the Student Interpreters Corps in the American Foreign Service. He is a US Army veteran and former Language Program manager and speaks Turkish, Serbian, and German, and can read Ottoman Turkish. He moved to Izmir in 2014 to open an EducationUSA advising center for Turkish high school and university students interested in studying in the United States, which continues to serve the Izmir community. Nathaniel is a TEFL- and CELTA-certified ESL teacher with more than fifteen years’ experience in Intensive Language Programs, and language testing.- Email nathaniel.davis@yasar.edu.tr
